So, I have placed v1.1.7 of the PBB Updater on the site now. It has been fairly stable the last week or so and provides all of the recent fixes for the site changes. It no longer uses the file date/time stamp to determine if a file has been updated - but instead a checksum value for the file. If the file changes, the checksum will be different and it shows up as updated. Additionally, the updater now displays a status screen to let you see what it is doing while it is doing it.
And finally, the method by which it tracks what resources are available at StillTruth and what resources you have is now different. Site level changes may now happen and it will not break the updater - as that change will now be made to the resource listing on the server and downloaded each day (that you run updater) to your computer so it is always up-to-date.
Thanks to these changes there will be some other updates coming in the future. Such as support for providing the timeline files and other types of Libronix resource files. And hopefully, the updater will be able to provide you a list of resources on your computer that may be stale and no longer provided due to file updates (such as 14 volume works being combined into a single work).
That said, it has been in limited release. You may experience some bugs that I have not come across yet. If so, please leave a comment here and I will try to address it quickly. I hope that this resolves some of the irritations that have plagued you recently and provide you with an easy way to access these public domain resources that Tom is so kind to host for us. Hopefully he will be able to keep this site here for a long time to come - as it is a great ministry to help many of us who just can't afford to purchase all of these resources.

Thanks
Thank you all for what you are doing to make these resourses available to us all and now for a wonderful utility to do it with.

So much for fault-less
Anyway, I received a reminder from Tom and a bug for those of us who keep the PBBs in a non-default location.
First, the bug is that the application will crash if the PBBs are in a non-default location and a new resource is released. This was just fixed and thus v1.1.8 is published.
Second, the reminder is that the best place to log bugs is over at the project home page on SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pbbupdater).
Thanks everyone and sorry for this missed bug.
Known Bug: Application Update
There is a known issue with the application update always showing up and not being able to get to a list of resources. The fix for this is already uploaded with one last file update remaining - that being the resource list file. Worst case, this file will be updated tonight so that all is better tomorrow morning - or it may be manually fixed before then.
PBB Updater v. 1.1.9
Hello,
I just downloaded and installed the latest PBB updater and it seems to have a bug wherein when opened the updater pickups the 1.1.9 update and just the update alone. It doesn't pickup any of the PBB resources. Also, after clicking the update it keeps showing the same program update. Thanks for blessing us with all these resources.
Grace & Peace,

PBB Updater v1.1.9
That would be that "Known Bug" listed above. It will autocorrect overnight.
Does not work
After reinstalling the v1.1.9 and attempting to start the PBB Updater it just gives me a message that "StillTruth.com cannot currently be contacted".
Thanks,
Steve
If I'm not mistaken the
If I'm not mistaken the updater first sends a ping to stilltruth.com on startup. If for any reason that ping doesn't make the round trip you'll get that message.
The good news is that it demonstrates that the updater is working.
The cure might be as simple as double checking to see if you're connected or that you don't have a firewall blocking the outgoing signal (lots of software firewall stop outgoing traffic).
It worked!
Thomas,
Thanks for the information about the firewall. I temp shutdown the firewall and the PBB Updater worked fine. - Thanks Bro!

Define Collections
Thanks for this tool! Saved me many hours.
I just updated my PBB's and was heading over to "define collections" when I noticed that the new books were already in there. Does your tool automatically flag commentaries as such for passage guide searches, or do I need more coffee?

Define Collections
Hi, thanks for this tool! It saved me many hours of one-by-one downloads after my computer crash.
I went to "Define Collections" to associated Calvin, Gill and other commentaries for the Passage Search, and they were already there. Does your tool take care of that automatically?
predefined collections
Tim,
Many of the PBB collections generated by various people include an *.lbxcol file which defines the collection. This is why they show up in your Passage Guide.
Possible Updates
Hi, this tool is great and near perfect for what it does... however...
I love to keep my folders organised.... Is there any chance you can put a changeable variable in for the Libronix personal folder?
I also delete some resources and don't want to see them again. Can this log what has been updated (vs. what has been deleted) so that removed items are not re-downloaded or shown for download.
Thanks for your great work!
RE: Possible Updates
Hey Randle! Thanks for the comments.
Regarding changing the personal folder, the functionality should be available. There are two ways to access the screen for changing this folder. One is to just double-click on the folder on the main screen and input the new folder. The second is to click on the arrow at the bottom right of the application and select the menu option to change the folder. Both will actually open the same screen.
Regarding removing items from the list. I have had the same thoughts myself. Hopefully I will come up on some time in the near future to work on adding this functionality. But I'm not sure how quickly my time will free up.
Also, just to advertise again.... If you like to dabble in VB.Net the entire source for the application is available on SourceForge to try adding some new features. Please just let me know if you check some new functionality in and I'll work with Tom to test out and update the installer here at StillTruth.com.
