PBB Updater: Migrating to C#

Fresh from SourceForge.net!
============================
It would appear that there is no one interested in contributing to a Visual Basic application. ;)

Therefore, PBB Updater is migrating to C#! In addition to migrating, there is also more detail going into the build of the next version of PBB Updater. Version 2 - when released - should be a much leaner, cleaner application.

So if you are a fan of Logos (www.logos.com) and you know C#, please join the team to work on the up-coming version 2!

Have you been desensitized?

Cross-posted from http://geppy.gephart.info
--------------------------------------------------
I heard a sermon today from a non-pastor. In fact, this gentleman used to be in marketing. He was evaluating the impact of the digital age on mankind. He suggested that the miracle of cell phones and text messaging and all of these type of digital age benefits combine to give us the ability to empathize with all of the people across the world that suffer in any way, shape, or form. But that it also gives us the ability to be disconnected from real life implications of those disasters. And as a side affect, seeing such large scale disasters desensitizes us to the smaller scale issues near home.

Have you been desensitized? Do you see the injustice that exists in your town? How about your work place? Do you try to do anything to change it? Or have you been worn down to the point where you don't try to correct injustice any more?

PBB Annual Renewal Feed

in

I just wanted to be sure that everyone who had the PBB knew of the discounted options currently available for renewing the PBB.

http://www.logos.com/pbb
"Personal Book Builder Addin Renewal
As specified in the License Terms, the Personal Book Builder Standard Edition and Personal Book Builder Private Use Edition each require an annual fee to renew the license. The renewal fee for the Standard Edition is $50; the renewal fee for the Private Use Edition is $25.

We have decided to cut the renewal fee in half for all current renewals. For a limited time, a 12-month renewal of the Standard Edition is just $25 and a 12-month renewal of the Private Use Edition is only $12.50.

NOTE: Effective January 29, 2008, those who use the Personal Book Builder in conjunction with their teaching are exempt from the annual license renewal fee. To have your renewal fee waived, you must contact Customer Service at 800.875.6467.

Please note the following important details:

If you receive notice that your license is to expire earlier than 12 months from the date you activated the product, please enter your Customer ID in the box below to extend your license through the full, original 12 months at no charge.

All users may renew early. Renewals purchased before the expiration date will begin on your current date of expiration (that is, you will receive the full 12 months).

If your Personal Book Builder license expires, you will still be able to read personal books but will no longer be able to produce them."

The Fruit of the Rose Bush

It's been a while since a cross-posted a blog entry to StillTruth.com. But, while learning about the landscape of my yard I have found comparison to the teaching of Scripture. So, I thought I would cross-post tonight.

Original post: http://geppy.gephart.info/2008/07/fruit-of-rose-bush.html

===================

So, I've mentioned how I'm learning about fruit development in a rose bush. I just thought I would describe what I am learning so you might use the illustration as a way to interpret/understand the Scriptures when it speaks of the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of the fleshly nature.

So, a rose bush develops the pretty and beautiful rose flowers. When they bloom, you get to enjoy the sights and smells of this wonderful flower. But then over the course of a week or two, that flower dies and collapses in on itself. And as it collapses, it grows into a ball. This ball then grows in size and in "meat" as it turns into a full fledged fruit (rose hips). As this process occurs, the plant is putting its energy into growing this fruit - and while it does so, in that area it does not put energy into creating more flowers. If you want more flowers, then you need to prune off the fruit so the plant stops giving energy to the fruit and redirects the energy to the flower.

PBB Resource Requests

in

Just thought I would put out an offer. If there are books that you want in PBB format but do not have the tool, I will try to assist you with the conversion part. What I would ask of you:

1. Provide a Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer formatted document. Use the Header Styles to define the chapters and headers that you want in the book.
2. Provide at least one Internet URL that shows that the work is in the Public Domain.
3. Provide the reference (Internet URL if possible) of where the text came from; I want to be sure to credit the proper sources.
4. Provide the Title, Author, Language, Copyright (or public domain), Publisher, and optionally a description to be placed into the book's metadata.

If you are able to put this information and resource together that would mean very little work on my part. This should result in at most a one week turnaround on your PBB. If you are having trouble with one or more of the items above, I can try to help as time allows - but it would probably slow things down a little.

Anyway, the offer is made. :)
