Memorizing 1 Timothy
I am feeling lead to memorize the book of 1 Timothy as I preach through it. years ago when I was preaching through Romans I attempted the same and then quit after only the first seven verses. On the upside I can still recall Paul's introduction at the drop of a hat - so my method was good, I merely lacked follow-through. Accountability is needed which is why I'm posting here.
I've run across a huge number of resources on the web to help you with memorizing so I'll post a bunch of links below.
I'm convinced that since "Context is King" (a phrase I use all the time) then memorizing a little verse here and there does little to help beyond a few given proof texts. And whenever I've memorized just one verse I try to be mindful of the phrase, "Any text without a context is a pretext for a proof text."
Memorize the whole passage (or book) however and you've got the context with you... forever!
Some great Bible Memory Websites (in no particular order):

Here's a great series by Chris Gonzalez.

Scripture memory is absolutely vital to our walk with Christ. Let me give you a challenge, pick a book, any book of the Bible (yes even Jude or 3 John) and memorize it verbatim. Then come back and tell me all about it.

Hows it going?
1 week in, hows it going...
More than a week actually
So maybe I hedged my bet a bit....
I've been at it for a few months now, I have chapter 1 down almost completely cold and can quote it in my head when I wake up in the middle of the night. (That is an outrageous blessing to be able to quote more than one verse!)
I'm now up to 2:9 and I've taken a few days off. Best to be back at it Monday. (I've given myself permission from the start to not have to work at it on the weekends.)
So My question Dominic is this: how's your selection? ;-)
