I had a user send me an email recently asking "I've been able to do everything I wanted without an account, why would I want one?"
Great question. I intentionally made some of the most popular features easy to get at without an account. However, membership has it's privileges. Quality control is important to me, so I implemented an account system here that will enable you to do some extra things that you couldn't otherwise:
- Your own Blog
- All members with an account gain their own blog which they can post. though at the base account level your blog posts are still subject to moderator approval before being posted - by request, after you've demonstrated your style of writing for a short time, you can attain "contributor" status which has the ability to post immediately without my review.
- You'll also be able to give your own blog a custom name instead of just "So and so's blog"
- Upload Files. Sometimes when you're blogging you'll want to post a file with an entry, you have to be a member to upload files
- Collaborate and create book pages
- Books are a special kind of post that helps to organize single topics into a flowing discussion. It's separate from blog entries in that many people can add to the book project till it's a finished product.
- Membership also allows you to edit the book pages you've created in the past.
- Members can post comments to other posts without waiting for approval.
- Members can see a post access counter at the bottom of every post so you can instantly see how many times a given post has been viewed.
- Easily contact other members
- View Member profiles by clicking on the poster's name just below the title.
- Members can contact other users by email with a built in contact form attached to their user profile.
- Advertising Disappears. I've just enabled a feature that turns off any google advertisements for anyone who is logged in.
I would like to encourage you to sign up.
