Religion vs Life

I just had to repost here. I hope it has meaning to someone.

http://geppy.gephart.info/2008/02/religion-vs-life.html

I am currently involved in a discussion on something called syncretism. Truthfully, I had never heard the word before so I had to start by looking up the definition. It has something to do with the combination of religious practices from various religions into your own religion. Basically the discussion started out with (1) if it was right to do, (2) if the LORD would accept such worship, and (3) examples in the Old Testament of Israel doing just that.

So, not only did I not know the word but even after reading the definition I just don't accept that syncretism matters. Syncretism is a discussion of religion, and we are not called to a religion but a life style. The LORD did not ask us to worship him by a specific religion, but with our whole heart and with all our might. So, we are not asked to worship a specific way; we are asked to give him everything - all that we are and all that we do. If we worship in this way (with everything), then the outward form of worship (religion) will be correct no matter what its style is.

Milk or Solid Food?

My son is currently 18 months old. We have had our share of experiences with foods and food allergies with him. But we have also had the standard experience of his food tastes changing. When he was born there was breastfeeding, and then the migration to a bottle. Then later came the oatmeal and rice cereals, and the bottles of baby fruits. We our still working on switching from a bottle to a cup, and to get him to eat more solid foods. We can see that he knows what eating solid food is, he just has not yet chosen to eat solid foods.

The Good Samaritan

There is this man. A few years ago, I saw and heard of the special acts of goodness that he did at a hospital. This man was there visiting a relative of his throughout the entire time of the relative's stay at the hospital. While there he overheard many of the patients talk about the things that they would really like to have.

Into My Life

Sorry to post another one so quickly. This is actually related to my post on Isaiah and is a song that God has had me wake up huming every day for two weeks now. It is a wonderful song, with a beautiful meaning.

====================================================

This is the title of a wonderful song on The Imperials "Priority" CD. One of the best CDs that they ever produced in my mind. As it turns out, it was a cover song. This song was originally written by Birtle and Goble "The Last Romance."

But, read the lyrics. This song is all about how to obtain salvation - both as described in Isaiah and in Hebrews. Salvation is obtained when we repent, choose not to follow our own path, but instead choose to follow the path of God - which is the atoning sacrifice of the Servant - Yeshua of Nazareth (who would be called the everlasting Father).
