Salvation

Psalm 3

Shadow

One of the enemies most ardent and frequent attacks upon the people of God is the threat of lost salvation. I am certain no greater damage is done to the kingdom than by this hellish attack. I am not mumbling about that flawed and heretical doctrine that God is going to drop you like a hot potato if you sin - though it's damage is equally horrible. I am here concerned with the damage the evil one inflicts upon God's true servants by hinting to them that they have lost or have not gained salvation. The answer to the heresy is the answer to all heresy, gaining a knowledge of what the Bible does say and cling to it regardless of

"Israel's deputy prime minister Haim Ramon says the Israeli government would support a division of Jerusalem. This would be a key component of an Israeli-Palestinian declaration to be made at an international peace conference in the U.S. this year."

"Also Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told parliament that peace would require Israel to make "costly" concessions and that the Palestinians give up part of their dreams."

Law: Is It Right?

In the series "On ..." there were a couple posts on Romans and what it has to say about the Law. Now, I am coming at it again - but specifically focused on the Law itself. And related, salvation/righteousness.

Note: all Scriptures are from the NLT.

How Can I Be Saved?

What an important question! Ever since childhood I have been taught and believe in one single answer: believe on the name of the LORD Jesus Christ and you will be saved. And it is such a true answer. But it also the simple answer; the milk of the answer - as it were. So, if I am saying this is not the entire answer, what do I think the answer is?

Read the following quote from Romans. The bolded sections are bolded by me to point out the "meat" of the answer.

Rom 3:21-26 (NLT)

Sheep Go to Heaven

So, with the waves that have been crashing against my boat this week, these lyrics have been bugging me the entire time (lyrics at bottom). "Sheep go to heaven and goats go to hell" at first gave some comfort - but not for long. Then the thoughts start striking that you don't want that goat to go there; they aren't usually that bad of a person - they must only be having a bad time. So instead, I should be praying that God can reach their heart and teach them from this circumstance.

On the Law

Earlier I discussed how my earliest (misguided) belief thought that the Old Testament was "old" and useless and that the Law was abolished. I discussed how I thought that the New Testament was the only thing with meaning. I did not understand that the New Testament could not be fully comprehended without the Old Testament. Now that I have truly begun to read the Old Testament for understanding, I again am reading the New Testament with a new "pair of glasses."
