Site

Scheduled Maintenance

Pending upgrade

I haven't done any major design work on the site for a year (Stilltruth Redesign question). since then the site has grown with more readers and my own desires for what the site should be has changed. I'm still desiring to be the clearing house for all things Libronix PBB. But I think we can do better. I want to increase my involvement in the BibleWorks community as well as enable a more focused dialog on determining truth in Scripture.

The blog's name and theme revolves around the unchanging truth - specifically with reference to God's word. As a personal blog however I often comment on things that are geeky or just plain different. I'm intrigued that as I write this one of the most popular posts on the site is about hacking the Western Digital Mybook World edition!

As a pastor I'm committed to presenting the old word in a new way. As a geek I'm committed to upgrading everything I touch. With that in mind I am planning some scheduled maintenance at an undetermined time on Thursday night August 21, 2008. Among other upgrades I will be converting the site from Drupal 5 to Drupal 6 and will be instituting some major and minor changes along

WebFm - Web File Manager

Just a quick message for those of you who have become contributors at stilltruth.com

Excuse me for shouting:
DO NOT USE WEBFM IF YOU ARE USING INTERNET EXPLORER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
/excuse me for shouting:

I've enabled a new file management system which should make future searching and report generation better. On the downside it will take a little getting used to: Starting today you'll notice a new menu selection called "WEB File Manager"

Before using webfm I strongly encourage you to take it for a test drive on it's beta site which you can link to from: http://drupal.org/project/webfm. If you're uncomfortable using webfm please let me know and try to tell me why. It takes roughly the same amount of work as other methods but it is different.

Unfortunately webfm currently does not like IE. IE will cause random glitches like files and whole directories of files disapearing. IOW you will kill stilltruth if you use IE. If you must use IE don't try to mess with webfm.
Since most of you use firefox however you will not have a problem. USING Firefox however will open up a whole new world of manageability when it comes to embedding files into the system.
Here's how it works:

Contributorials

My Bible and a cup of Coffee

Greetings Contributors!

I realize that Stilltruth.com can seem complex and I don't want you to worry. I want you to feel free to use the site as best you can without fear that you're going to "mess things up."
The first thing you need to know is that I trust you. If I didn't you wouldn't have access. That means you should relax and get comfy. Blog when you want to blog, send news when you want to send news and upload images without fear. I have given you access to these tools so you can use them. So use them.

In order to help you get the most out of this site I'm going to post a number of "contributorials" here. (Not sure if that's a neologism but I like it). Some of the more confusing aspects of Stilltruth I'll deal with first. Among them are webfm and posting pbb's. I'll also try to get some basic blogging information up and cover the rest of the tools as well.

Be mindful that this section of the site is invisible to anyone who does NOT have contributor status. That means you're special. ;-)

OH yes if you ever need some help from me, go ahead and contact me using the information that follows. I've also posted my cell number in a recent email to many of you. If you're a new contributor and you feel like you might need that cell number zip me an email and I'll let you in on the secret. (Just don't ever call me on Sunday mornings between 7-12, Sunday nights btwn 5-10 and Wednesdays between 5-9).

If you have ANY questions I should be available via Instant messenger.
